Season 4 is not as worthy as Season 3, but there are tranquil some agreeable episodes here, especially the last one but also episodes 8, 9, and 10. Also there are a couple of familiar characters from Season One who point to up. The cliffhanger looks like it’s going to be an racy Season 5!

Disc 1:

Episode 1–Cliffhangers from last season are resolved. Let’s unbiased say skin-to-skin contact is the best draw to guard against hypothermia. Wiegel comes assist from her personal leave with, as Clemmy calls it, a “gargoyle” in the oven. Dangle tries out for Westside Legend…sort of. Carrot Top goes berserk at a hotel. Highlight: Garcia and Jones exhaust a approved interrogation tactic called “Pleasurable Cop, Dark Cop.”

Episode 2:–”There’s going to be a beefy spot of teeth in the Junior household,” as Travis’s 3 brothers reach for a visit. Garcia works undercover in an illegal worker sting. Wiegel starts Lamaze.

Episode 3–Kimball tricks the guys with a phony bustle riot. A deputy dies and the officers do what any caring co-workers would–argue over who gets his jet ski. Junior and Dangle peep for guns turned in for the “Guns for Toys” drive that Wiegel spilled across the road.

Episode 4–A deputy panty raid goes horribly unpleasant. The Sheriff’s Department has to compete with the citizen’s patrol, played by Paul “Pee-Wee Herman” Reubens, to solve crimes. Garcia is visited by the hooker he tried to support in Season One. Dangle and Junior try to procure free tacos from Terry.

Episode 5–”Spanish Mike” Alvarez, who tricked the Reno Sheriff’s Department in Season One posing as a representative from Home Land Security with a untrue training program, returns to Reno to be held before being turned over to the FBI. He tries to gain into the officers’ heads in his attempts to elope. Will any officer give in? Also, Clemmy choreographs a street dance at a sobriety checkpoint.

Episode 6–The Sheriff is killed and his last words to Lt. Dangle are to avenge his death. Dangle suspects the sheriff’s hot wife and her foreign driver and, later, discovers something about the sheriff that may attend demolish the case wide begin. Also, the Renaissance Glorious guy gets stuck in a toilet.

Episode 7–The Sheriff’s Department help the Sheriff’s funeral where Dangle, Wiegel, and Junior have dream sequences. They then solve the case on how he died. The pallbearer scene is hilarious.

Disc 2:

Episode 8–The Reno Sheriff’s Department is sponsored by “Hotty’s”–a sports bar with well-endowed waitresses–which controls what the officers drive, wear, even how they give the Miranda Rights. The officers, also, can only eat food from Hotty’s. Let’s impartial say the partnership was a gas. Those Hotty’s girls design Trudy Wiegel seem like a Phi Beta Kappa.

Episode 9–Kimball invites Clemmy to a get-together which turns out to be a church social (which follows Kimball’s personality–remember how enthused she was by the singing drug dealer who sang religious/drug songs on the street in season 3? ) . Kimball is jubilant for Clemmy “showing up as she is: a woman soiled, a woman with a whorish, wrong past.” Later, Clemmy gets baptized wearing nothing under her baptismal gown. Churchgoer: “Babies are naked when they procure baptized, I mediate it’s all accurate.” Kimball: “Well, babies don’t have Double ‘D’ hooters.” Helpful one.

Episode 10–One of my favorites. It’s election day, and Proposition C will settle whether the Reno Sheriff’s Department gets a 3% raise. Garcia and Jones work with an undercover female detective who’s trying to bust a meth cartel and they preserve getting beat up by her to get her involvement with the drug dealers recognize convincing.

Episode 11–Jones and Garcia join the mounted patrol but Garcia is allergic to horses. Jones won’t give up his mounted residence to rejoin Garcia. Kimball discovers that Junior’s been shot and, at his dying question, kisses him and swears she will execute whoopie with him if he pulls through. They then glean out they have a connection in other ways.

Episode 12–Kimball tries to arrest a modern-day Houdini. Jones talks to a school about feelings of inadequacy in the shower–”especially some of you–probably the white boys.” There is a murdering/rapist kid. Otherwise, it’s objective the usual stuff. There is no main storyline to follow.

Episode 13–The officers try out the jaws of life. Williams, Wiegel, and Kimball look a stakeout like a soap opera. Dangle goes to his ex-wife and her husband’s anniversary party–and he’s the only guest. Odd and this will have ramifications later.

Episode 14–We finally score out who is wearing the mascot getup at the school–and he asks Dangle to be his life partner. Dangle tries to prepare his “bridesmaids”–Jones, Garcia, and Junior–for the commitment ceremony. Even the cameraman gets dressed up. Trudy gets stuck naked in a cake…and her water breaks! Hilarious with surprises and cliffhanger for the next season.

In the fourth season of “Reno 911!,” the cast have perfected the quirky personalities of their characters, and pick up themselves in increasingly curious situations. In the first episode, Lieutenant Jim Dangle (Thomas Lennon) and Deputy James Garcia (Carlos Alazraqui) are found alive, naked and freezing in their patrol car, while the boyfriend of Deputy Trudy Wiegel (Kerri Kenney-Silver) is executed for being a serial murderer. Six months later, Deputy Wiegel returns to work after being out on personal leave, and is obviously pregnant. At the same time Carrot Top, the prop comedian, blows his top in a hotel room. Apparently, the two incidents are totally unrelated.

Deputy Cherisha Kimball (Mary Birdsong), who joined the reveal in season 3, really comes into her enjoy in the “Christian Karaoke Singles’ Mixer” episode. In another episode, Paul Reubens guest stars as citizen Rick, a guardian angel-vigilante who is always one step ahead of the Reno Sheriff’s Department. Of course, they resent his presence at crime scenes. Deputy Travis Junior (Robert Ben Garant) : “If it was easy to be genuine at law enforcement, wouldn’t we be? ” Terry (Reduce Swardson), the roller skating waiter at Tacos! Tacos! Tacos! Tacos!, never fails to amuse in his many appearances. Nobody can lie to the police - I mean improvise - as well as he can. Patton Oswalt also appears as the Dungeon Master at the Renaissance Handsome in several episodes. Dungeon Master: “This is my winter stout. I have not had enough jousting to work off my winter bulky.” Deputy Travis Junior: “It’s August!” Paul Reubens, Slice Swardson, and Patton Oswalt all appear in the feature film “Reno 911!: Miami.”

In the next-to-last episode, Jim Dangle accepts a wedding proposal from his ex-wife’s husband, and a blissful commitment ceremony is planned. In the last episode, Trudy pops out of a giant wedding cake, topless, in a desperate attempt to develop Jim drop in fancy with her and call off the ceremony. Unfortunately, being extremely pregnant, Trudy gets stuck halfway out of the cake, and her water breaks. They can’t fracture her out of the cake, and she can’t fit in the ambulance. She must be wheeled in the cake, topless and screaming, down the streets of Reno, to the hospital. After giving birth, the contented commitment ceremony commences in Trudy’s hospital room. The episode ends with Deputy Garcia throwing a monkey wrench into the ceremony, and Trudy whispering to Jim that she knows who the father of her baby is. I can’t wait for the fifth season of “Reno 911!” to start!

Every reviewer out there has praised this demonstrate for its brilliance and I’m going to be redundant and do the same. From its first episode to the last few seconds of the Christmas Specials, The Office never has one terrible line or one erroneous notice. It’s impartial about perfect.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Office - The Complete Collection BBC Edition! Click Here

Almost every scene takes residence in the tiring, offices of the Slough branch of the Wernham Hogg paper company (Dawn, the receptionist, accurately describes it as “a crappy sub-branch paper merchant’s) . Wernham Hogg employs about 40 people and we derive to know all their faces as we gaze them perceive at computer screens, select coffee breaks, and goof off day after day. It’s as realistic as TV has ever been. Nobody is too splendid, everyone’s “office-casual” wardrobe is slightly wrinkled, and everyone looks bored out of his or her mind most of the time.

The people we collect to know best are: Gareth Keenan, a bizarre “team leader” with a fixation on survival skills; Dawn Tindsley, the sweet and sarcastic receptionist who is stuck in both a dumb job and a tiring, relationship; Tim Canterbury, a sales acquire who hates his job but can never seem to actually conclude it; and David Brent, a man who thinks he’s everyone’s “friend as well as their boss” but who is actually liked and respected by no one.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Office - The Complete Collection BBC Edition! Click Here

The two main myth threads running through all 14 episodes of The Office are Tim’s attempts to convince Dawn to leave her idiotic fiance and David’s constant need to brand his employees, bosses, and everyone he meets with his various talents. We peek his “humor,” his “poetry,” his “songs,” his “dancing,” and his philosophical “wisdom.” All of which are horrifyingly poor. David’s constant need to create ends up slowly destroying him, Tim and Dawn remain unhappily inert, and things collect worse and worse for everyone until the exhibit almost becomes unbearable to gawk. The cast is so salubrious, though, and every line so pitch perfect, that you’d follow these people anywhere, even in despair. Also, the broad thing about The Office is, like life, all the possibilities continually exist for these characters and we never know when they might have a moment of redemption.

So, it’s not strictly a comedy, but it is the funniest, most devastating, and strangely uplifting point to I have seen in unique years.

There has been great hype about “The Office” being a gargantuan sitcom on the level of “The Honeymooners” or “Fawlty Towers” and it is that, but it’s something else, too. It may be the invention of a novel genre you might call the sit-tragi-comedy, because there are many moments in this dusky, unforgettable demonstrate when the skull beneath the skin of the human condition becomes appallingly visible. They may sound pretentious (as Ricky Gervais says jokingly about his indicate on the DVD, it’s like Dickens, only better) but “The Office” deserves every scrap of praise it gets.

It owes a lot to the Christopher Guest mockumentaries like “Waiting for Guffman” in which the limits of human self-delusion are scathingly explored. There’s also the achingly tart characterization and wit of “Fawlty Towers.” Neil LaBute’s savage comedies of sexual combat and office politics seem prove as well. There’s also the unmistakable whiff of Samuel Beckett (yes, I said Beckett) in the pacing and style, the emptinesses and Godot-like futility of the work. Perhaps the greatest aspect of the note is how it combines both mercilessness and compassion at once. Many of the characters are objective abominable people, but on the other hand at times they are very painfully aware of it. As David Brent despairingly wails, after his exploits have supposedly been telecast all over Britain, “I am not a plonker!”

David Brent, brilliantly incarnated by series co-writer and creator Ricky Gervais, is a Frankenstein-like compilation of the worst qualities of every boss you ever despised. Abusive, dishonest, incompetent, socially inept; yet convinced in his beget mind he is a “chilled-out entertainer and comedian” before he is a boss, Brent is a walking inducer of cringes and acid reflux. The only worse person in the position is the truly vile Chris Finch; bully, insult-artist and would-be womanizer. (The bar they frequent, Chasers, is like Dante’s Inferno area to disco music.) The team leader, Gareth, is a weedy slight git who believes he is Rambo. The corporate executives circle the office like sharks, waiting for the next opportunity to slash jobs. Caught up in the mess are two innocents; Tim, the intelligent 30-year-old clerk who smooth lives with his parents and sees through everything and who is in like with Dawn, the sweet receptionist who is engaged to a swinish yob from the warehouse.

Scott Adams, of Dilbert fame, says that he is not anti-business but anti-idiot. I reflect the same could be said of “The Office”; although the environment truly is soul-crushing, mild most of the characters wounds are self-inflicted. (The incredibly dreadful music video Brent makes with the money from his severance package can be seen in the Christmas special, and it has the power to perform your jaw topple to the floor.) Included on this DVD are both seasons of the note as well as the Christmas special which bring the series to an raze. It’s not too powerful to roar that the creators do bring a ecstatic ending of sorts; whether you have it can be sustained even 24 hours after the “documentary” cameras have finally been turned off is of course up to you. A shining, classic series.

What is a reliable cop? One who joined the police force because he was unable to build his mother from being killed by an abusive husband, but who now uses violence not only against wife-beaters but whenever called for by his suited officers; be it to beat a confession out of a suspect

or to discourage criminals from settling in town? Or one who joined the police force to emulate his father, a department legend; to go after “Rollo Tommasi” (the guy who thinks he can score away with anything), but who thereafter lets his career and department politics dictate his actions? Or, in the demolish, is it the one who has let corruption wipe out so thoroughly the reasons why he once joined the police force that he doesn’t even remember a single one of them, but who for once in his life collected finds it in himself to go after exact criminals, even at the risk of his enjoy life? This is objective one, although maybe the central interrogate asked in “L.A. Confidential,” the movie based on James Ellroy’s original with the same name. And as does the book, the movie refuses to provide an respond to this and the other questions it asks.

The legend is station up by tabloid editor Sid Hudgens (Danny DeVito), who during the movie’s opening credits gleefully sums up the L.A. clichés that peaceful acquire factual today: “Arrive to Los Angeles! The sun shines lustrous, the beaches are wide and spicy, … there are jobs aplenty, and land is cheap. Every working man can have his absorb house, and inside the house a pleased, all American family. You can have all this, and who knows, you can even be discovered - become a movie star or at least, singer. Life is friendly in Los Angeles: it’s paradise on earth.” Laughing sarcastically, however, he adds: “That’s what they disclose ya’, anyway, ’cause they’re selling an image. They’re selling it through movies, radio, and television.” Then Hudgens proceeds to screech the narrative of crime boss Mickey C.’s arrest, which left the void in the City of Angels’s organized crime scene that sets the stage for this movie’s memoir, and concludes with his tabloid’s heed line: “Remember, dear readers, you heard it here first: Off the relate, on the QT, and very hush-hush …”

And as indicated in these opening lines, nothing is as it seems in this 1950s’ version of a Los Angeles populated by hookers sever to gawk like movie stars and cops with more or less disreputable alternative sources of income. As the anecdote progresses, its three heroes - career-driven and pseudo-correct Ed Exley (Guy Pearce), tough-fisted and golden-hearted Wendell “Bud” White (Russell Crowe) and nonchalant, dismal “celebrity crime stopper” Jack Vincennes (Kevin Spacey) - become unlikely allies in their search for their city’s most elusive commodity: the truth. Shades of gray abound, and even the raze, which (unlike the novel’s) has at least some redeeming aspects, is not a gay ending by a long shot.

Just as many people longingly remembered the days of “The Maltese Falcon,” “The Titanic Sleep” or, for that matter, “Chinatown,” proclaimed “they don’t earn ‘em like that anymore” and were ready to screech the death of the noir genre, along came a group of novel directors and screenwriters and breathed modern life into patient. “The Usual Suspects” is one fine example, this one is another. Unlike other noir stories’, this tale’s heroes are no private detectives; but all the classic elements of a film noir are there, from a damsel in pain (Veronica Lake-look-alike hooker Lynn Bracken, award-winningly portrayed by Kim Basinger) to crime, corruption and abuse of power, and to dimmed lights and hard boiled dialogue with many memorable one-liners. In a year overshadowed by the success of the vastly overrated “Substantial,” “L.A. Confidential” managed to at least come by the Academy Awards in the best supporting actress and best adapted screenplay categories (Kim Basinger and Brian Helgeland/Curtis Hanson, respectively; the movie had also been nominated in the best relate, best director - again Curtis Hanson -, best modern procure - Jerry Goldsmith -, best cinematography, best art direction and best editing categories) . And while the 1990s have seen a revival of the noir genre, this one is a standout even among the fresh films noirs the past decade has brought us. It made the careers of its writers, director and two of its stars (Guy Pearce and Russell Crowe), and boosted those of several others of its cast members (Kim Basinger and Kevin Spacey, to name unbiased two) . I am distinct it will fetch its eternal space in the annals of Hollywood, alongside its well-known predecessors. There are map too few movies like this these days - if you haven’t seen it already, go and recall or rent it soon. This is unique noir at its finest.

“LA Confidential” takes detective film noir in a different direction-something I didn’t judge could be done. Director Curtis Hanson stated that he wanted the focus of this period allotment to be on the characters and dialogue rather than the locations, clothing, cars, etc. I assume he got it lawful for the most fraction, but the cinematography is so spectacular that you can’t wait on but gawk the backdrops against which the scenes are position.

Buy,Download, Or Stream L.A. Confidential! Click Here

The acting performances in this narrate are for the most piece first rate: Guy Pearce plays the ambitious Edmund Exley to perfection, Russell Crowe is excellent as tough guy detective Bud White, and Kevin Spacey (one of my well-liked actors of all time) turns in a stellar performance as the hip narco detective who also acts as a consultant on a Dragnet-like TV series. Strong performances by James Cromwell, Ron Rifkin, and the ubiquitous David Strathairn round out the portray. Although I liked Kim Basinger, I belief she was cast more for her sight than for her acting skills. She played the role of a Veronica-lake lookalike prostitute quite well, but hers didn’t notice like a performance any other competent actress couldn’t have pulled off.

The DVD version of this describe is more plump of features than any other title I’ve owned thus far. It includes a documentary about the making of the film which includes cast interviews and clips of Crowe’s and Pearce’s mask tests. There’s also a plot scheme that tells the viewer about each of the major locations where scenes were shot, cast bios, a promo for the soundtrack (featuring some very ample early 50’s jazz courtesy of Chet Baker and other artists of the era), and the movie can be played with impartial the soundtrack running. Be warned-the features that advance in the DVD version bewitch more time to peek as the movie. But it’s well worth the time! “LA Confidential” sets a high standard in terms of what studios should include in DVD’s of their pictures. Are you paying attention, Hollywood?

The appearance of Itsy-bitsy Feat at the Grugahalle in Essen, Germany, in July of 1977 was novel in more ways than one:

First there was Peter Ruechel, creator of the Rockpalast (Rock Palace), who was a long time fan of the band. A year earlier he had gone to a Rolling Stones concert in Stuttgart objective to look Tiny Feat, who were the opening act. From then on he worked like crazy to arrange for their appearance at the Rockpalast. It was to happen during the first long RP night, and it was to be broadcast live all over Europe.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Skin It Back! Click Here

Then there were the local TV crews, who got their first experience in filming and broadcasting 3 rock concerts that went on all night long.

Little Feat’s music seemed recent to some, and they were relatively unknown in Europe, although they had reached a high point in their creativity in the USA. They were, and serene are today, at their very best during live performances, and members of the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin were often found among the concert goers.

Bootlegs, unauthorized live recordings, had flourished for years on the sunless market. So Cramped Feat decided to release an official live album, which was recorded in London and Washington, DC during the 7 shows after the historic Rockpalast appearance. The result was “Waiting for Columbus”, by many fans and critics considered to be the best live rock album of all times, even though it was overdubbed in the studio later.

The Rockpalast concert is pure live Tiny Feat, as is breathtakingly evident on “Skin It Succor”. Although the VHS version, and later the 2000 DVD version with commentary from keyboardist Bill Payne and guitarist Paul Barrere circulated for years among fans, this unusual release is the one that really kicks! Both audio and video have been remastered for a listening pleasure beyond comparison.

As a bonus there is the 30 shrimp sound check from the afternoon of July 23, 1977, a accurate diamond in the rough with its seven tracks, including “Rock And Roll Doctor” which, unfortunately, didn’t form it into the recording of the prove. These tracks, known only to a few insiders, have been pulled from the holy grail of the Rockpalast to be enjoyed by all like a heavenly, rare wine.

30 minutes of bonus material might not sound like very mighty, but 30 minutes is a long time for a sound check. Cameras are everywhere, giving the viewer the feeling of being upright there on stage with the band for the first Rockpalast night. It is clear that the TV crew is testing their limits and that Small Feat themselves are having a grand time.

Not a ticket of the rumored tension between band members, except for one time during the indicate when Lowell George left the stage during “Day At The Dog Races” to present that the jazzy instrumental was not exactly his cup of tea.

Unlike the rest of the DVD, the bonus tracks have not been remastered, giving viewers the chance to experience this fragment of rock history as it was originally recorded.

Kudos also to the extensive info in the liner notes, which includes a account by Peter Ruechel about his memories of the first Rockpalast night with Microscopic Feat and many previously unpublished photos.

Little Feat “Skin It Abet - Live At Rockpalast” is not unbiased for die hard Featfans, but also a must-have for all friends of grand, timeless rock music recorded by a band at the peak of their creativity.

Why is band not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

a redone video but with extras.

great for anyone who missed Itsy-bitsy FEAT with Lowell George

Familiarity can sometimes numb us to how very peculiar a movie is, and that is certainly the case with THE AFRICAN QUEEN. Most polls that have been done in fresh years typically denote Humphrey Bogart as the greatest movie star of all time, and frequently Katherine Hepburn gets the number two slot (and always gets the number one slot for women) . Yet, these roles are almost antithetical to everything else they ever did. Bogart, the astronomical man of action of CASABLANCA and THE MALTESE FALCON and THE Mountainous SLEEP, is reduced to a dirty, disheveled, lewd, drunken captain of a remarkably inconsequential boat with the profoundly self-mocking name of “The African Queen.” Hepburn, who has made her career playing unbridled, liberated, and self-assertive unique women, here is a prudish (though only for a while), repressed, tightly afflict spinster. But despite this highly current pairing, the film was one of the finest that either was ever in, netting Bogart his only Oscar (and unbelievably, only one of three nominations) and Hepburn what was something like her 200th Oscar nomination. It seems perverse that the only other two nominations were for Best Director (Huston) and screenplay (the colossal James Agee and Huston) . I’m not clear how a film can score nominations for four of the top five awards and not pick up nominated for Best Record, but it did (the five films nominated that year were the deserving AN AMERICAN IN PARIS [the winner], the somewhat censored A STREET CAR NAMED DESIRE, A Status IN THE SUN [which has not passe well], and the considerably less deserving QUO VADIS and DECISION BEFORE DAWN) .

Today we recall filming on position for granted, but in the 1940s and 1950s, few producers and directors opted for filming on the station upon which the film was supposed to retract space. Films might go to a noted locale and shoot a couple of scenes for realistic flavoring, as with a couple of scenes in ON THE TOWN or AN AMERICAN IN PARIS. Many Westerns had been shot on site, but that was no ample challenge given the terminate proximity of Hollywood to Western locales. John Huston had previously filmed THE Esteem OF SIERRA MADRE in Mexico, but going to the Congo and Uganda for extensive filming had rarely been attempted (sorry, all those Tarzan movies were filmed in California) . It was a spectacular undertaking (which Katherine Hepburn recorded in a book she wrote about making THE AFRICAN QUEEN) .

There is a war status that provides the setting for the film, but to be unprejudiced it really isn’t very vital. What is crucial is the grand dynamics between Bogart and Hepburn, as they go from loathing one another, to liking, and then to loving. It has to be the most unlikely care for account in the history of film, and yet somehow these two mountainous actors not only manage to sell it, but effect it quietly majestic. There is not great in the device of cast to express of, apart from the two leads. Robert Morley manages a diminutive but memorable fraction reach the beginning of the film, but Bogart and Hepburn utterly dominate the film’s onscreen time. Luckily, they have no grief pulling it off.

As outlandish as this film was, there had been attempts to acquire it into a film for quite some time. If one is familiar with Bette Davis’s career, there had been a couple of attempts to film it with her in the lead with various leading men (including James Mason) . But surely Katherine Hepburn is the perfect Rose Sayer. Like in THE PHILADELPHIA Tale, she can communicate self-righteousness better than anyone. Davis would only have managed egotistical haughtiness. But I’m obvious everyone would agree that the casting ended up being for the best.

Bogart and Hepburn play two diametrically opposed personalities in this classic film state during World War I. She is a prim and grand, middle-aged English missionary. He is a gin-soaked river rat living by trading up and down the Congo River from a ramshackle musty steamboat named The African Queen. They are thrown together by a German offensive that leaves them isolated and in pain of being captured and held as prisoners of war (or worse, they could be shot as spies) . To dash, they must go down the river past the Germans. What follows is piece comedy, portion tense drama, and fragment high adventure. The river and its wildlife pose as mighty of an obstacle as the Germans, and Bogart and Hepburn must not only learn to procure along, but to trust in, and rely on, each other to survive.

This is a extraordinary movie. The acting is helpful (Bogie got an Oscar for “Best Actor”), the anecdote is trustworthy, and the scenery is aesthetic (it was shot on place) . They impartial don’t beget earn them any better than this, and I can’t imagine any reason why anyone would NOT want this in their collection. Very highly recommended.
